- Viewing and Managing SiteBackup Seats
Overview
Macrium SiteBackup is licensed on a per-agent basis, with each agent computer requiring the correct 'SiteBackup Seat' license.
SiteBackup licensing can be managed on the 'Licenses' page of the SiteManager Platform.
SiteBackup Seats
SiteBackup Seats (SBS) are added to the 'Licenses' page of the SiteManager Platform and each license has a number of seats associated with it, decided at the point of purchase. These seats are automatically assigned to computers as they are connected to SiteBackup. If a computer is removed from SiteBackup, the seat is freed for use elsewhere. This makes SBS quick and easy to use as they require no special client-side configuration. Since each license can have a number of seats associated with it, license management overhead is reduced.
SiteBackup Seat licenses can be managed on the 'SiteBackup Keys':
Adding SiteBackup Seats
SiteBackup Seat licenses can be added using the 'Add License' button above the licenses table:
Alternatively, the licenses can be added on the SiteBackup 'Summary' tab of the 'Licenses' page:
Enter the SiteBackup seat license in the window that opens, then select 'Add':
The license will then be displayed in the license table.
Offline Activation
Licenses can also be added to SiteBackup servers that do not have an internet connection. Read more about offline license activation here.
Viewing and Managing SiteBackup Seats
The following columns are displayed in the license table:

Licensed To | The user or company that the key is licensed to. |
Key Type | The type of key. This can be server, workstation, server (VM), or metered. |

Num. of Seats | The number of seats that are associated with the key. |
Expiry | This shows the expiry date for trial and subscription licenses. |
Support Status | This shows the support status of the key and the expiry date of that support. |
Metered Agent Licenses
Metered licensing is available to MSPs and other Macrium partners. This provides unlimited use of SiteBackup and provides regular billing on actual usage counts. SiteBackup reports usage counts to the Macrium license servers, which use the information to produce billing based on high watermark usage.
Metered keys are managed as a special agent license key with a type of 'metered'. Only one metered key per SiteBackup server is permitted and when in use, additional statistics about metered license usage are displayed on the 'Summary' page.
Standalone Licenses
If a computer already has an installation of Macrium Reflect with a valid Macrium Reflect license, this computer can be managed by SiteBackup with no further licensing required. The SiteBackup server will automatically detect that the client computer has a valid Reflect license when it connects for the first time after the agent has been installed with no configuration required.
Macrium Reflect X Workstation, Server, and Server Plus licenses qualify as valid licenses for SiteBackup. Licenses earlier than Reflect X, Home edition licenses, and trial licenses are not valid for use as standalone licensing.
Standalone licenses cannot be added directly to the SiteManager Platform. They must be used to install a standalone edition of Macrium Reflect X, a SiteBackup Agent can then also be installed on the computer for management by SiteBackup.
Viewing Standalone Licenses
Standalone licenses on SiteBackup Agent computers can be viewed on the 'Standalone' tab of the 'SiteBackup' section of the 'Licenses' page.
This tab will display all standalone keys that are in use by SiteBackup Agent computers as well as the NetBIOS name of the SiteBackup Agent that is using the standalone license.
Standalone licenses cannot be managed from the SiteManager Platform and should instead be managed using Macrium Reflect on the computer where the license is being used.
Viewing License Usage
Seat usage can be viewed on the 'Summary' page under the 'SiteBackup' section of the 'Licenses' page.
This page shows an overview of how many SiteBackup Agent computers have valid licenses, including whether they are using SBS or standalone licenses:
The 'Licenses in use' section of this page shows a combined total number of seats for each type, how many of the total number of seats are in use, and how many of the total number of seats are still available.
If a computer is using a standalone license, it will not consume one of the SiteBackup Seats shown in this section.
