Overview

Macrium SiteDeploy can be entirely activated and used on a computer that isn’t connected to the internet.  For more information on installing SiteManager Platform without an internet connection, see here.

Activating SiteDeploy Licenses Offline

To activate a Macrium SiteDeploy license, select the 'Licenses' page of SiteManager Platform. Under the 'SiteDeploy' heading select 'Summary':

Selecting 'Add License' will prompt for the license key to be entered:

Since the SiteDeploy server does not have an internet connection, selecting 'Add' will open the offline activation wizard:

Take note of the 'Activation Code' that is shown in this window.

In the Macrium Account, select ‘Activate Licenses Offline’ next to the license key that was entered into the offline SiteDeploy server,

In the window that opens, enter the 'Activation Code' from the offline SiteDeploy server then select ‘Offline Activate’ to offline activate the license.

Note: Once the offline activation of the license has been performed it cannot be undone. If the wrong license is offline activated, or the computer where the license was offline activated is no longer available, please contact our support team here.

An offline key will now have been created. This offline key can be copied to the clipboard or downloaded to a .txt file:

Enter the offline key into the offline SiteDeploy server, then select 'Activate Key' to complete the offline license activation.

The offline activated license will then be shown on the 'Overview' tab:

Once the offline activation of the license has been performed it cannot be undone. If the wrong license is offline activated, or the computer where the license was offline activated is no longer available, please contact our support team here.

Creating Deployment Media Offline

The deployment media is a bootable environment that is used to create and deploy golden images with Macrium SiteDeploy. To create the deployment media, Windows Preinstallation Environment (WinPE) is used as the base WIM; this requires components to be downloaded from Microsoft. These components are usually downloaded automatically, however, since the SiteDeploy server does not have an internet connection, the components will need to be downloaded on a computer with an internet connection and then moved to the SiteDeploy server manually.

There are six WinPE versions that SiteDeploy uses when creating deployment media:

Windows PE 3.1 - 64bit

Windows PE 3.1 - 32bit

Windows PE 10 - 64bit

Windows PE 10 - 32bit

Windows PE11 - 64bit

To download these components, first, download the Macrium Reflect Download Agent on a computer that has an internet connection.

In the Macrium Reflect Download Agent, select ‘Options’ to change the components that will be downloaded.

In the window that opens, use the ‘Select Download Option’ dropdown to select the relevant Windows PE component.

Select ‘Download’ to download the specified components.

A .zip file will be downloaded from Microsoft that contains the relevant PE components. Repeat this step for each of the PE components listed above.

These zip files should then be placed in the default folder below on the SiteDeploy server:

C:\ProgramData\Macrium\SiteManager\RescueMedia\pefiles

This path may be different depending on the 'Rescue Media Working Directory' setting in 'Rescue Media' page of the SiteManager Platform system settings.

Following this, the rescue media can be created on the ‘Deployment Media’ tab of the SiteDeploy console. This article contains more information about creating deployment media in Macrium SiteDeploy.
