Overview

Macrium Reflect X includes integrations into Windows Explorer, which enables some of Macrium Reflect X's features to be accessed directly through Windows Explorer, instead of needing to launch the Macrium Reflect application.

Context-Sensitive Menus

Right-Click Image Files

Right-click on .mrimgx and .mrbakx files to mount the backup or initiate an image restore through Windows Explorer:

Right-Click Mounted Image

Right-clicking on a mounted image drive enables the image to be unmounted:

Right-Click Drives in Windows Explorer

Right-clicking a drive in Windows Explorer displays the 'Create a Macrium Image of this partition...' option.

This option will launch the Macrium Reflect Disk Image wizard with the right-clicked partition selected by default.

Windows Explorer Columns

Additional columns can be added to Windows Explorer for 'Backup Comment' and 'Backup Method', enabling backup files to be easily identified and sorted in Windows Explorer.

To enable the columns in Windows Explorer, navigate to a folder that contains Macrium .mrimgx and/or .mrbakx files, right-click on the column headings, then select 'More...':

In the window that opens, navigate to the 'Backup Comment' and 'Backup Method' options, then use the checkbox next to the options to enable the column in Windows Explorer:

After selecting 'OK', the additional columns will be displayed:

.mrimgx and .mrbakx File Properties

The Windows Explorer shell integration adds an additional 'Macrium Reflect' tab when viewing the properties of .mrimg and .mrbak files.

To access this tab, right-click on a .mrimg or .mrbak file, then select 'Properties'. In the window that opens, select 'Macrium Reflect' to view additional information about the file, including: backup type, compression, disks and partitions included in the backup, and more:

File Infotips

Hovering the mouse over a .mrimg or .mrbak file will display a brief summary of the file, including: whether the file is an image or file and folder backup, backup method, compression level, and the password protection status of the backup file.
