- Expanded Scheduled Backup View
Overview
The 'Active Backups' page is used to create, view, and manage any regularly scheduled activity including scheduled backups and remote synchronization.
Viewing Scheduled Activity
On the 'Active Backups' page of SiteBackup, a list of scheduled activities are shown under the repository that they are associated with. There is additional information below the repository name, including used and free space. This table can be filtered and sorted to make finding a particular scheduled activity easier:
Expanded Scheduled Backup View
Scheduled backups can be expanded, using the the arrow on the left of the activity, to view more detailed information about it.
In the expanded view, there are two tabs that can be selected:
Summary - This tab shows an overview of the scheduled backup. The SiteBackup Agents that will be backed up by this scheduled backup are shown in the table.
Each computer lists:
- Last backup time
- Last backup status - success, failure, or succeeded with warnings
- The next scheduled backup time
Forecast - This tab shows an overview of the upcoming scheduled activity that will be performed.
Expanded Remote Sync View
Expanding a remote sync will provide additional information about the sync:
In addition to information about the remote sync's configuration, information about the health of the remote sync, and the previous sync run is displayed:
Heading | Description |
Connection Status | The health of the connection to the remote sync. If SiteBackup is unable to connect to the remote sync destination and error will be shown here to assist with troubleshooting. |
Last Run Status | This shows the result of the last run. If the last run failed, an error message will be shown here to assist with troubleshooting. |
Uploaded | This shows the amount of data that was uploaded to the remote sync destination. |
Last Run Start | The start time of the last remote sync that ran. |
Last Run End | The end time of the last remote sync that ran. |
Managing Scheduled Activity
There are several action buttons that can be used to interact with scheduled activity:
Enable/Disable
The enable/disable toggle can be used to disable or enable the scheduled activity. While the scheduled activity is 'Disabled' the 'Last Run Status' and 'Next Activity' columns of the table will be updated to reflect this:
Whilst disabled, the scheduled activity will not run until it is re-enabled.
Run Now
This button can be clicked to manually run an ad hoc backup or remote sync. When using the 'Run Now' button with a remote sync, the remote sync will be performed immediately. When using the 'Run Now' button with a scheduled backup the 'Run Now' wizard will open.
Computers
On the first page of the wizard, select the computers included in the definition that will be backed up :
If the 'Wake on LAN' option is selected, disconnected computers may be selected as well as connected ones. The SiteBackup server will attempt to wake any disconnected computers up as part of the backup process.
The Wake-on-LAN option allows detailed Wake-on-LAN options to be set:
Options
On the 'Options' page, specify which repository will be used, as well as the level of backup that will be performed (full, differential, or incremental). Power saving options can also be specified that will be applied to the computer(s) post-backup:
If enabled, the power saving options can be configured to either shut down, hibernate, suspend, or reboot the selected computers after the backup is complete. The selected computers can also be forced to close all running programs before performing the power-saving action.
Selecting 'Run' will run the backup with the selected options. Run now backups can be seen in the forecast on the 'Dashboard' page.
Backup Types
If a differential or incremental backup is selected without a corresponding full backup in the repository to base the differential or incremental backup on, the computer will perform a full backup instead.
Edit
The 'Edit' button can be used to change the settings for remote syncs. This is the same process used in creating a remote sync, described here, except the wizard will be pre-populated with data from the selected definition. When editing a remote sync the 'Finish' button may be pressed at any stage and not just the final one.
Delete
This button will delete the scheduled activity. It is important to note that the deletion of a scheduled activity cannot be undone.
