Overview
Macrium SiteBackup has the ability to browse image files. This enables a file system, that was included in a disk image, to be viewed and for individual file and folder recovery from an image file. This can be especially useful in cases where a limited number of files or folders need to be recovered without restoring the whole partition they are stored on, e.g. recovering from an accidental file deletion.
Browsing an Image
First, navigate to the 'Repositories' page of SiteBackup.
On this page, select the repository where the backup, that will be browsed, is located, then select 'Browse':
If there are multiple repositories, the relevant repository that contains backups for a particular computer can be easily accessed in the 'Repository Quick Info' tab of the expanded agent view on the 'Computers' page of SiteBackup:
In the repository browser, select the computer whose image will be browsed. The table on the right of the window displays the available images for the selected computer, the columns in this table can be filtered and sorted to make finding a particular backup easier:
The arrow on the left of the image can be used to view the action buttons, select 'Open Image':
The 'Image Browser' window will then open, displaying a file system view of the disk(s) and partition(s) that were included in the image at the time of creation:
The tree on the left-hand side of the browser can be used to view the different partitions and folders that have been included in the image. Files and folders can be selected using the checkbox shown next to each item, once at least one file or folder has been selected, the 'Download' button will become active.
Selecting 'Download' will open a window that displays the number of files that will be downloaded and the total size of the download:
Selecting 'Download' will download the files via the browser that is being used to access SiteManager Platform.
