Overview
Periodically, new updates of Macrium Reflect X will become available, including a variety of bug fixes, security patches, and new features. Where possible, we recommend ensuring that Macrium Reflect X has been updated to the most recent version to ensure that these updates and fixes are installed. This article contains more information about updating Macrium Reflect X.
Updating Macrium Reflect X with an Active Internet Connection
If the system where Macrium Reflect X is installed has an active internet connection, when Macrium Reflect X is launched and an update is available, the Macrium Reflect Updater will launch automatically and display more information about the available update:
Additionally, a Windows toast notification will be displayed, indicating that a new version is available. Dismissing this toast notification will prevent it from being shown for the remainder of that day:
Select 'Download' to perform the update to the latest version of Macrium Reflect X.
This update check behaviour can be changed using the 'Update Settings' tab in the Macrium Reflect defaults and settings.
A manual update check can also be initiated by selecting the 'Update' button on the quick actions menu at the top of Macrium Reflect or by selecting the 'Check for Updates...' option in the 'Other Tasks' menu on the top bezel:
If a later version of Macrium Reflect X is found, the Macrium Reflect Updater will open and display additional information about this latest version. If the update check determines that the latest version of Macrium Reflect X is already installed, the following message will be displayed instead:
Updating Macrium Reflect X Offline
Offline activation is only available in Macrium Reflect X Workstation and Server editions.
If the computer where Macrium Reflect is installed doesn't have an internet connection, the update will need to be performed by manually running the latest Macrium Reflect X installer.
The latest Macrium Reflect installers can be downloaded from the Macrium Account. Using a computer that has an internet connection, log in to the Macrium Account here. In the Macrium Account, select the 'Downloads' page, the product cards on this page will display the available products to download that are associated with the Macrium Account's email address.
If multiple different Macrium Reflect X editions are available for download (Workstation, Server, Home), it is important that the correct version is selected for the computer that is being updated:
Once the installer has been downloaded, move it to the offline computer. The installer can then be executed over the top of the existing installation; there is no need to uninstall the current Macrium Reflect first.
Once the installer has been executed, follow the steps in this article to complete the update.
Updating Macrium Reflect Rescue Media
Occasionally, updates to Macrium Reflect will also affect the rescue media. In this case, a note will be added to the release notes, displayed in the Macrium Reflect Update, indicating that the rescue media should be rebuilt:
Launching the Macrium Rescue Media Builder will display a message similar to the example below:
