Macrium Technician's License Overview

- What is the Macrium Technician's License?

- How Does the Technician's License Work?

What is the Macrium Technician's License?

The Macrium Technician's License enables you to create a power rescue media USB that can be used to back up and recover machines without the need to install a version of Macrium Reflect. The Technician's License includes a Macrium Reflect Server installation that is used to create a technician's rescue media. This rescue media includes the Macrium Reflect Portable Application that can be used to back up a system within Windows, without the need to install any software.

This makes the Technician's License perfect for scenarios where systems need to be imaged but can't have any software installed, for example: imaging potentially fragile systems in a manufacturing environment, forensic imaging for legal compliance, and even imaging customer systems in a computer repair shop.

How Does the Technician's License Work?

Licensing for the Technician's License differs compared to the majority of Macrium Software licenses; the Technician's License is licensed per technician instead of per system being imaged. As a result, the Technician's License enables a technician to image and recover as many systems as needed.

The Technician's License enables machines to be imaged and recovered to the same hardware, or a replacement in the event of hardware failure or planned upgrade. Imaging a single system and restoring to multiple systems would instead be an image deployment. For image deployment solutions, please see the Deployment Kit and SiteDeploy.

An internet connection is required to install the Technician's License and to create the technician's rescue media; however, once the rescue media has been created, it can be used entirely offline, not even requiring a local area network connection.
