Overview

For the majority of use cases, physical Macrium Reflect rescue media is the best choice when recovering a physical computer. However, when working with virtual machines, an ISO file is often preferable.


Launching the Macrium Rescue Media Builder

Rescue media can be created using the 'Rescue' button on the quick actions menu at the top of Macrium Reflect or by selecting the 'Create Rescue Media...' option in the 'Other Tasks' menu on the top bezel:

Both of these options will open the 'Macrium Rescue Media Builder'.


Creating a Rescue Media ISO File

For the majority of use cases, the default options that are selected in the Macrium Rescue Media Builder will be the best options. For advanced use cases, the 'Advanced' button can be used to change the options that are being used to create the rescue media.

Under 'Select Device', ensure that 'ISO File' is selected. By default, the ISO file will be created in the root of the C:\ drive; this can be changed by specifying a location in the 'Save ISO File to' text box, which can be a local or network location. Select 'Build' to create the ISO file:

Once the Windows Boot Menu Rescue Media Option has been created, the following message will be displayed:
